By John Mackintosh:

Are you psyched for college? Look, here's the deal; if you're about to graduate from annoying little high school, then you're probably psyched for college. That's kind of just the routine of things. Call it the circle of life if you will. Granted this only applies to those of you who are venturing off to achieve that higher level of education. If you're satisfied with a life of folding clothes at the local Gap, then that's all you. However, for those of you who are determined to take that next step toward a bright future, it's prudent to take the right one. Now, by this I don't just mean what college you go to or what major you choose. I am talking about your college experience overall. Sure, college can be a wonderful place full of exciting new things and good times, but it's also a place to stay focused and learn. Let's face it; your folks aren't going to fork out the dough forever. Therefore it's imperative to get good grades. I worked very very hard to get thoughs high grade results!

How would you rate your college experience from 1-10? Considering that you've already gone, that is. For me, I would have to give my overall college experience a seven. This is because I waited until age 25 to go, and sadly missed out on a lot of the college routines. When I say routines, I mean the whole deal of living on campus, the student gatherings, and the sorority raids. Okay, so maybe that last one is more of a dream than anything else, but you get the picture. I simply feel that you need to be smack-dab in the middle of things in order to maximize your college experience. You know, get the full brunt of things. However, there is a fine line when it comes to college life. One thing you certainly don't want to do is party too much. This can affect your grades. The last thing you want is to fail a class, because then you just lost oodles of cash and time. This is especially bad if it's your parent's cash. They may not forgive you and shell out more for next semester. I witnessed far too many students drink their college lives away. So instead of doing the actual class and homework, they merely got drunk all the time. Where are they now? Not in college! Just working at local stores and earning minimum wage. So, make your college experience a fun one, but don't get addicted to a 24/7 party life. This is a waste of time and cash.
